Volcano rabbit
The volcano rabbit (also known as teporingo or zacatuche) is a small rabbit native to Mexico. The rabbit lives on about 280 square kilometers of land in central Mexico. The rabbit is ranked as endangered by the IUCN.[1]

Popocatépetl, one of four volcanoes around which the volcano rabbit lives. Forests of Pinus hartwegii, a preferred species of the rabbit, can be seen around the volcano.
Recta a Cholula, a highway in the Mexican state of Puebla. The construction of similar highways has contributed to declines in volcano rabbit populations due to habitat fragmentation.
