Waikhomia hira is a freshwater fish species found mainly in the Western Ghats of the Indian subcontinent.

The genus "Waikhomia" is named after the Manipuri taxonomist, Waikhom Vishwanath, of Manipur University. The specific name "hira" means diamond.[2][3][4][5]
