Yorkshire men's cricket team

(Redirected from Yorkshire County Cricket Club)

The Yorkshire men's cricket team is based at Headingley in Leeds. It represents the traditional English county of Yorkshire. Teams called Yorkshire have been active since 1833. Until 1863, the county name was used solely by the Sheffield Cricket Club for their matches against county teams, including Lancashire. Yorkshire County Cricket Club was formed in 1863 to take over the organisation of the county team. Yorkshire have won the County Championship a record 32 times, most recently in 2015.[1] The team has played at numerous grounds around the county, the main ones being Headingley Stadium in Leeds, North Marine Road in Scarborough, and (formerly) Bramall Lane in Sheffield. Many great players have represented Yorkshire, including George Hirst, Wilfred Rhodes, Herbert Sutcliffe, Hedley Verity, Len Hutton, Fred Trueman, Ray Illingworth, Sachin Tendulkar, and Joe Root.[2]
