Zayar Thaw
Zayar Thaw (Burmese: ဇေယျာသော် [zèjà θɔ̀], also spelled U Phyo Zayar Thaw or Zeya Thaw; 26 March 1981 – 23 July 2022) was a Burmese politician, activist and hip-hop artist. He was arrested by the military dictatorship for his anti-government messages in his song lyrics.[1] He was a member of Pyithu Hluttaw from 2012 to 2021. In November 2021 he was arrested by the Myanmar military junta and was sentenced to death in January 2022.
On 23 July 2022, he and three other democratic activists were executed in Yangon, Myanmar.[2] He was 41 years old.
