Anjanette Delgado
Anjanette Delgado (born 1967) is a Puerto Rican writer, journalist, and editor whose work explores themes of sexilio, uprootedness, and social justice. She is the author of several novels and has contributed essays, fiction, and poetry to prominent literary and journalistic publications.[1]

Early life and education
Delgado was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, in 1967. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus and later obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Florida International University.[2]
Career
Journalism and media
Delgado began her career in journalism producing human-interest stories, which earned her an Emmy Award.[3] She has written or produced content for media outlets such as NBC, CNN, NPR, Univision, HBO, and the Latin America and Mexico editions of Vogue magazine.[4] Her reporting has covered major global events including presidential coups, elections, the Olympic Games, the Iraq War, and the September 11 attacks.[5]
Literary work
Delgado is the author of two novels: The Heartbreak Pill (Atria Books, 2008) and The Clairvoyant of Calle Ocho (Penguin Random House, 2014).[6] Her debut novel received a Latino International Book Award in 2009.[7]
In 2021, she edited the anthology Home in Florida: Latinx Writers and the Literature of Uprootedness, which won a gold medal in the Collective Fiction category at the Latino International Book Awards in 2022.[8] Her work has appeared in The New York Times (Modern Love, Opinion), NPR, Kenyon Review, Prairie Schooner, Hostos Review (CUNY), Tupelo Quarterly, Women’s Review of Books, and Distrópika.[9][10]
Teaching and mentorship
Delgado has taught creative writing at Florida International University and Miami Dade College. She has also conducted workshops and participated in literary conferences across the United States, Mexico City, and Puerto Rico.[11]
