The arrondissement of La Tour-du-Pin is an arrondissement of France. It is part of the Isère département, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its capital, and a subprefecture of the department, is the city of La Tour-du-Pin.

History

When the Isère department was created in 1790, the arrondissement of La Tour-du-Pin was part of that original department.[1]

Geography

The arrondissement of La Tour-du-Pin is bordered to the north and northeast by the Ain department, to the east by the Savoie department, to the south by the arrondissement of Grenoble, to the west by the arrondissement of Vienne, and to the northwest by the Rhône department.

It is in the northeast of the department and is the second largest arrondissement with an area of 1,489.7 km2 (575.2 sq mi),[2] and the second in population with 270,681 inhabitants and a density of 181.7 inhabitants/km².[3]
