Carl Lee Perkins (April 9, 1932 – January 19, 1998) was an American rockabilly musician who recorded most notably at Sun Records Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, beginning during 1954. His best known song is "Blue Suede Shoes". He won a Grammy Award in 1987.

Perkins was born on April 9, 1932 in Tiptonville, Tennessee. He was married to Valda deVere until his death in 1998. They had one daughter and three sons. Perkins died on January 19, 1998 from complication of a series of strokes and throat cancer in Jackson, Tennessee, aged 65.[1]
