Charles J. Urstadt
Charles Jordan Urstadt (October 27, 1928 – March 3, 2020) was an American real estate executive and investor. He was New York State housing commissioner and the first chairman of the Battery Park City Authority. He was a key figure in the construction of Battery Park City. He was also the reason why rent control was removed from New York City. Urstadt was born in Manhattan.
Urstadt died on March 3, 2020 at his home in Bronxville, New York of stroke-related problems, aged 91.[1]
