Chauhan
Chauhan or Chahamana (also spelled as Chouhan) is predominately a significant Rajput clan that historically ruled large parts of northern and western India, particularly in Rajasthan, Delhi, and Haryana from 7th to 12th centuries.[1][2] The Chauhan Rajputs claim descent from the Agnivanshi Kshatriya lineage.[3] Some prominent members of this clan include, Rana Hammir Dev Chauhan, Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, Jaharveer Chauhan (Gogaji), Ajayaraja II, Vigraharaja IV, and Viramdev Chauhan.[4][5]
The Chauhan Rajputs later divided into a number of branches, such as:[6]
- Hada Chauhans
- Deora (Devda) Chauhans
- Bhadauria Chauhans
- Songara Chauhans
- Nirban Chauhans
- Khichi Chauhans
