Divergent (novel)
Divergent is the 2011 debut novel of author Veronica Roth.[1] Roth started writing Divergent in college, and continued afterwards to write two sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant. The book reached number six on the New York Times Best Sellers lists.[2]
Divergent is a dystopian novel about a sixteen year old girl named Beatrice Prior. In this world, everyone is split into five factions: Dauntless the brave, Erudite the smart, Amity the peaceful, Abnegation the selfless, and Candor the honest. However, some people, such as Beatrice, are Divergent, meaning they belong in multiple categories.
The book was adapted into a movie in 2014.
