Veronica Roth is an author of young adult dystopian books[1]. She is best known for writing the Divergent series. The novel was adapted into a movie in 2014. She has won several awards, including Publishers Weekly Best Books, 2010-2025 for Divergent and SLJ Best Books of the Year, 2010-2025 for Divergent.[2]

Personal Life
Roth is the youngest of three children.[3]She is from the United States. She was born in the state of New York but moved later to Illinois.[3] Roth went to Carleton College and then to Northwestern University.[4] She lives with her husband Nelson Fitch in Chicago. [3]
Career
Roth was part of the creative writing program at Northwestern. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in arts. Roth wrote her first book, Divergent, while she was on break at college.[4] Divergent is about a girl named Beatrice “Tris” Prior.[4] It’s set in Chicago in the future.[3]The city has five groups.[4] People join a group based on their beliefs.[4] In the book, Tris is raised in the Abnegation group but decides to switch to the Dauntless group.[4]
Veronica Roth’s books became a huge success very quickly.[4] Her book Allegiant sold many copies very fast. [4]It set a record for her book company, HarperCollines. [4]
From 2011 and 2014, Roth sold over 40 million books across the world.[4]Her books were so popular that they were turned into 3 movies.[1] The movies feature actress Shailene Woodley.[1]
