Drôme (river)
The Drôme (Occitan: Droma) is a river in southeastern France. It is a left tributary of the Rhône river. It gives its name to the French department of Drôme.

Geography
The Drôme river has a length of 110.7 km (68.8 mi), and a drainage basin with an area of 1,663 km2 (642 sq mi).[1]
Its average yearly discharge (volume of water which passes through a section of the river per unit of time) is 17.2 m3/s (610 cu ft/s) at Saillans in the Drôme department.[2]

Course
The Drôme starts in the Col de Carabès, in the western foothills of the Alps, in the commune of La Bâtie-des-Fonds, (Drôme department), at an altitude of about 1,033 m (3,389 ft).[3] From here, the Drôme flows first to the northwest and then to the west.
The Drôme river flows within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, 2 departments and 37 communes. It flows through the following communes, among others:[1]
- Drôme : Valdrôme, Luc-en-Diois, Die, Saillans, Allex, Crest, Loriol-sur-Drôme, Livron-sur-Drôme
- Ardèche : Le Pouzin (at its confluence)
Finally, it flows into the Rhône river in the commune of Loriol-sur-Drôme, on the border with the Ardèche department.[4]
