East Midlands Trains started running the East Midlands franchise in November 2007. It took over the train operating companies Midland Mainline, which operated inter-city services from London to Yorkshire, and the eastern side of Central Trains.
In 2019, the East Midlands franchise was given to a new company, East Midlands Railway, owned by Abellio. The new company took over operations in August 2019.[1]
