Eldar Shengelaia

Eldar Shengelaia (Georgian: ელდარ შენგელაია; 26 January 1933 – 4 August 2025)[1] was a Georgian movie director and screenwriter. He directed ten movies between 1957 and 1996.[2] From 1990 to 2004, he was a member of the Parliament of Georgia. He was awarded the titles of the People's Artist of Georgia (1979) and of the Soviet Union (1988).

In 1985 he was a member of the jury at the 14th Moscow International Film Festival.[3] In 1992 he was a member of the jury at the 42nd Berlin International Film Festival.[4]
