Fowler is a city in Meade County, Kansas, United States. In 2020, 534 people lived there.[3]

Memorial Day Parade (1919)

Fowler was laid out and platted in 1886. It was named after George Fowler, the firstl owner of the town site.[4][5]

Fowler was a shipping place on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad.[6]

Geography

The United States Census Bureau says that Fowler has a total area of 0.47 square miles (1.22 km2). All of it is land.[2]

In 2020, there were 534 people, 207 households, and 128 families living in Fowler. The population density was 1,126.6 inhabitants per square mile (435.0/km2). 76.2% of the people were White, 2.8% were African American, 0.6% were Native American, 10.3% were from other races, and 10.1% were from two or more races. 24.0% of the people were Hispanic or Latino of any race.[3][8]

2010 census

In 2010, there were 590 people, 231 households, and 150 families living in Fowler. The population density was 1,255.3 inhabitants per square mile (484.7/km2). 91.5% of the people were White, 1.0% were African American, 0.7% were Native American, 0.8% were Asian, 4.1% were from other races, and 1.9% were from two or more races. 12.9% of the people were Hispanic or Latino of any race.[9]

2000 census

In 2000, there were 567 people, 234 households, and 146 families living in Fowler. The population density was 1,203.5 people per square mile (465.8/km²). 93.12% of the people were White, 0.18% were Native American, 5.29% were from other races, and 1.41% were from two or more races. 10.41% of the people were Hispanic or Latino of any race.[10]

Education

Two schools, Fowler Elementary School and Fowler High School, make up the Fowler Unified School District.[11]
