George Murphy

George Lloyd Murphy (July 4, 1902 – May 3, 1992) was an American dancer, actor, and politician. He was a member of the Republican Party.

Murphy was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He studied at Yale University.

Murphy first served as President of the Screen Actors Guild. He served as president from 1944 to 1946. He then served as the United States senator of California. He served as senator from 1965 to 1971.

Murphy was married to Juliette Henkel-Johnson from 1926 until her death in 1973. Then he was married to Betty Duhon Blandi from 1982 until his death in 1992. He had two children; Dennis and Melissa.

Murphy died in Palm Beach, Florida from leukemia, aged 89.
