High-speed rail in the United Kingdom is under development. There are both existing and proposed high-speed lines.
List of lines
- High Speed 1 (HS1), also called the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL), is a 108-kilometre (67 mile) high-speed railway between London and the United Kingdom end of the Channel Tunnel.[1]
- High Speed 2 (HS2) is a planned high-speed railway. It will directly link London and Birmingham. The East Midlands. Leeds and Manchester legs were cancelled. It is due to open in stages from 2026.[2]
- High Speed 3 (HS3) is a proposed high-speed railway from Liverpool to Hull.[3] Its current status is uncertain.
- HS4Air was a proposed high-speed railway line to link Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. It would also connect to HS1 and HS2. It was proposed in 2018 by British engineering consultancy, Expedition Engineering.[4]
