Hurricane Debby (2024)

Hurricane Debby was a Category 1 hurricane from the Gulf of Mexico in August 2024. The storm struck the Western Caribbean islands, Northwestern Florida, Georgia, the Carolina States’ coastal areas and Virginia.

Debby caused several deaths, most in Florida.

The hurricane developed not long after August 2024 got into effect. Its actual path was similar to Hurricane Idalia from the previous year’s season. Debby struck Florida on August 5 not long after 7am Eastern Standard.

Similar to Idalia, Debby generated floods and storm surge across Florida’s Big Bend in the Northern and Western region of the state. The latter executed its coming ashore during moderate tides.
