Walt Disney's surname derives from the commune of Isigny. The earliest known ancestor of Walt Disney, with a similar name, was Jean-Christophe d'Isigny ("of Isigny"). "d'Isigny" was anglicised to Disney. d'Isigny in French means ("from Isigny").

On 1 January 2017, the former communes of Castilly, Neuilly-la-Forêt, Les Oubeaux, and Vouilly joined together to become the commune of Isigny-sur-Mer.[1]
