Jack Garfein
Jack Garfein (July 2, 1930 – December 30, 2019) was an American director, writer, teacher and producer. He was known for his teaching works at the Actors Studio in New York City. He was also known for directing the 1961 sexual-drama Something Wild.
Garfein produced two plays by Arthur Miller, The Price and The American Clock, and went on to direct other Broadway productions such as The Sin of Pat Muldoon, and Girls of Summer.
He directed the French premiere of "Master Harold"...and the Boys in Paris, and the world premiere of Nacht und Träume by Samuel Beckett in Austria.
Garfien was born in Mukacevo, Carpathian Ruthenia, Czechoslovakia (now Mukacheve, Ukraine). He was married to actress Carroll Baker from 1955 until they divorced in 1969. They had two daughters. Garfien died on December 30, 2019 in Manhattan from leukemia-related problems at the age of 89.[1]
