Edgar Degas, portrait of James Tissot, 1867

James Tissot (real name:Jacques Joseph Tissot, 15 October 1836 – 8 August 1902) was a French painter. He is mostly known for the portraits he painted in the 1870s, in Victorian style. In later life, he often painted religious motifs.
