Jaynagar Majilpur

Jaynagar Majilpur (or Jaynagar) is a city and a municipality of the South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is in the southern suburbs of Kolkata. The city is in the area of Greater Kolkata. It is a part of the area covered by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA).[1] The city is very famous for the confectionery called Jaynagarer Moa.

People

During the 2011 Census of India, there were 25,922 people living in Jaynagar Majilpur. 13,234 (51%) of the people were males and 12,688 (49%) were females. There were 2,277 people younger than 6 years old. There were 20,898 (88.38%) people who were older than six years old who could read.[3]
