John Mahoney (June 20, 1940 – February 4, 2018) was an American-British actor. He was known for his role as Martin Crane in the sitcom Frasier which ran from 1993 to 2004. Mahoney was born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England.^[1] He became an American citizen in 1959.

Mahoney died on 4 February 2018 while in hospice care in Chicago, Illinois of complications from epilepsy and lung and throat cancer at the age of 77.^[2]
