Kenneth Grahame (8 March 1859 – 6 July 1932) was a Scottish children's writer. He is best known for his book The Wind in the Willows (1908). The Mr. Toad story from the movie The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949) is based off The Wind in the Willows. He also wrote the short story The Reluctant Dragon (1898), which was made into a movie in 1941. Until 1908, Grahame was a banker.[1]

Grahame was born in Edinburgh. He married Elspeth Thomson in 1899. Their son, Alastair, was born in 1900 and had health issues during his life. Alastair took his own life in 1920.[2]

Grahame died on 6 July 1932 in Pangbourne, Berkshire, at the age of 73.[2]
