Karkonosze
Karkonosze (Czech: Krkonoše, German: Riesengebirge, English: Giant Mountains) is the highest part of the Sudeten mountains between Silesia and Bohemia. The Schneekoppe, 1,602 metres (5,256 ft) high, is the highest point.
This mountain also contain the source of the Elbe River and is also known for the Rübezahl, who is a giant, gnome or mountain spirit.

Koppenträger, who in former times supplied the mountain huts during most of the year. The picture shows members of the Hofer and Mitlöhner families, two long-established dynasties from the eastern part of the Bohemian side of the mountains. The ancestors of both families came from Austria in the 16th century.
