Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou

Luis Alberto Alejandro Aparicio Lacalle Pou (born 11 August 1973) is a Uruguayan lawyer and politician. Lacalle Pou is the 42nd and current President of Uruguay since March 2020. He ran as candidate for the National Party in the 2019 election.

He is the son of former President of Uruguay, Luis Alberto Lacalle.

In the 1999 general elections, he was elected representative for Canelones, serving the 2000-2005 term. He was re elected in 2004 and again in 2009.

On 30 March 2014, Lacalle Pou launched his bid for the presidential candidacy.[1] He lost in the second round of the election to Tabaré Vázquez.
