Mitchell Feigenbaum
Mitchell Jay Feigenbaum (December 19, 1944 – June 30, 2019) was an American mathematical physicist. His studies in chaos theory led to the discovery of the Feigenbaum constants. He became a professor at Rockefeller University in 1986. He was given a MacArthur Fellowship in 1983. In 1986, he was awarded the Wolf Prize in Physics.
Feigenbaum was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Jewish parents. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Feigenbaum died on June 30, 2019 in New York City, at the age of 74.[1]
