NewJeans
NewJeans (Korean: 뉴진스), known as NJZ (엔제이지) from February to April 2025, is a South Korean girl group. They started on 22 July 2022. The group is made of four members: Minji, Hanni, Haerin and Hyein. In the past, Danielle was a member too. They make K-pop music under the label ADOR, a subsidiary of Hybe Corporation. They were formed by Min Hee-jin. They are famous for their simple-girl image, for their 1990s–2000s inspired concept and for their R&B songs.[1]

On 28 November 2024, the members said they were leaving their agency due to "mistreatment" and "workplace bullying".[2][3] However, ADOR said it was false.[4]
In March 2025, NJZ said they would take a break.[5] In October 2025, Hyein and Haerin returned to ADOR.[6]
On 29 December 2025, Danielle was kicked out of the group.[7] On the same day, Hanni returned to ADOR.[8]
Name
The group's name, NewJeans, is a reference to the idea that jeans are a timeless fashion item and to the group's desire to become timeless (like jeans). The name also sounds similar to "new genes", a reference to the fresh image of the group made of young members, but also to the new generation of K-pop music they make.[9][10]
In February 2025, the group started using the name NJZ.[11] In April 2025, the group stopped using the name NJZ.[12]
