Rakia is a Turkish brandy made from fermented fruit.

It is very popular in North Macedonia and Bulgaria. It can be made from different fruits.

Overview

Rakia is an alcoholic drink similar to Brandy. Usually, it has 40% of alcohol, but home-made rakia can be stronger and have from 50 to 60%.[2]

The most common form of Rakia is made from plum, but grapes, peaches, apricots, apples, pears, cherries, figs are also used.

People drink Rakia from small glasses of 30 to 50 ml.
