Rochelle Walensky

Rochelle Paula Walensky (born 1969) is an American medical scientist. Walensky was the 19th Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2021 until 2023. She was the chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital and a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Walensky is an expert on AIDS and HIV.[1]

In December 2020, Walensky was nominated to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Biden administration, replacing Robert R. Redfield.[2]

On May 5, 2023, Walensky announced her resignation from her role at the CDC, effective June 30, 2023.[3]
