The Scythians were an Iranian speaking people who were nomadic and famous for their skills at horse riding. who dominated the Pontic steppe (modern Ukraine and Southern Russia) throughout Classical Antiquity. By Late Antiquity the closely-related Sarmatians Tribe came to dominate the Scyths in this area.
