The Voodoo Child is a rock band formed in 2018 by lead guitarist Andrei Cerbu, bassist Robert Ciubotaru and drummer Teodor Cușnir.

History
The Voodoo Child band was formed in 2018 by guitarist Andrei Cerbu, bassist Robert Ciubotaru and drummer Teodor Cușnir. Andrei Cerbu, the band's guitarist, is known from the TV show "Romanii Au Talent", who later performed with Phoenix. Later, the band started playing blues-rock with vocalist Alexandra Dodoi and played at all the major blues-rock festivals in Romania between 2018 and 2020. They released their first album called "Some Kind Of Blues" and then went on a tour throughout Romania to promote it. They won "The Best Newcomer of The Year" in 2018, and in 2019 they won "Confirmarea anului", an award offered by the Muzza foundation. They also had an international tour that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic In 2021, Romina Apostol, aka Rockmina, became the new soloist of the band and they started performing in this formula. Romina Apostol, aka Rockmina, is known from the TV Show “Superstar Romania” 2021, where she finished in 3rd place. During the pandemic, they started working on their second studio album and released several singles on YouTube and all digital platforms. Rockmina participated in Superstar Romania in 2021, where she won third place. On 19 May 2033, two days prior to the start of their North American tour, The Voodoo Child announced their new six-piece line-up, with Sandu Andrei on guitar and Radu Andrei on keyboards, synth and piano. The band combines songs from the 2 albums The Voodoo Child with some very successful covers and give maximum energy to the shows. The Voodoo Child concerts are not to be missed!
Musical style and influences
The Voodoo Child was influenced by early heavy metal and hard rock bands and artists Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Ted Nugent, AC/DC, Rush, Aerosmith, Iris, Cargo, Holograf and Judas Priest and by new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) bands Raven, Venom, Motörhead, Saxon, Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg, and Iron Maiden as well as European bands Scorpions, Accept and Mercyful Fate. Rock and roll and beat bands The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and The Who. Early punk rock bands Ramones, The Clash, Sex Pistols and the Misfits also influenced Trupa Muzicii Rock's style as did post-punk band Joy Division, The Smiths, Killing Joke and hardcore punk acts Black Flag, Discharge, Dead Kennedys, GBH, Minor Threat and Suicidal Tendencies. Cerbu was influenced by guitarists Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gary Moore and Andrei was influenced by Moby and punk rock and heavy metal artists. They's music has been described as alternative rock, pop rock, indie rock, indie pop, new wave, heavy metal, blues rock, punk rock, rock and roll and hard rock. Their music also contains influences from electronica, trip hop, house, techno, downtempo, ambient, electronic rock and chill out.
