Thomas Mulcair
Thomas Joseph Mulcair[1] (born October 24, 1954) is a Canadian-French politician. He was the leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada from 2012 to 2017. He is a Member of Parliament for the riding of Outremont in Quebec from 2007-2018. He was selected as the leader of the NDP at a leadership election on March 24, 2012, on the fourth ballot.[2] He then was Leader of the Official Opposition until the NDP lost just over half of its seats in the 2015 federal election. Following the election, a leadership review was held and Mulcair lost it, and was replaced by Jagmeet Singh. He then resigned his seat as Member of Parliament in August 2018.
