It was released on November 17, 2009 in North America, December 4, 2009 in Europe, and March 10, 2010 in Australia.[2][3][4]

The game was sold with and played with a peripheral controller in the shape of a skateboard deck. The player physically stands on the controller to play the game. The game cannot be played without the controller.

The game's story mode is called Road Trip. In the mode, the player creates a skater and starts in Southern California. Different professional skateboarders will then give the player objectives to complete such as getting to the end of the level in a set amount of time or building a high enough score by doing tricks and grinds. To progress to the next level, the player must win a skateboard session at the end of the levels.

A sequel titled Tony Hawk: Shred was released in 2010.

Reception

The game was given negative reviews by game critics. Critics said that the game's controller didn't register movements most of the time, the modes were very limited, and it was too expensive for such little content.[5][6][7][8]
