On the song "0 to 100 / The Catch Up", Drake would hint at him releasing a new album sometime in the future.[2] In July 2014, Drake announced in an interview with Billboard, Drake announced that the title of the album would be called Views from the 6.[3] The title would later be shortened to just Views.[4]

The album features a mix of many different genres including music that was influenced by hip hop, Jamaican dancehall, afrobeats, R&B, as well as music from both West Indian and West Africa.[5][6] Themes of theme album feature Drake rapping and singing about things such as friendship, loyalty, heartbreak, and betrayal.[7]

The album's cover art was made by Toronto photographer Caitlin Cronenberg and features a photoshopped picture of Drake sitting on top of the CN Tower in Toronto.[8]

The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, selling 1.04 million album-equivalent units.[9] It was the largest debut-week units for the year and set his personal best weekly sales record. The album would also become the biggest sales week by a male artist since Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience in 2013.[9]

Views would be certified 8× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[10]

The album would be nominated for both Album of the Year and Best Rap Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.[11] It would win Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Rap Album at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards.[12]

The album features the singles "Hotline Bling" which was released on July 31, 2015, "One Dance" and "Pop Style" on April 5, 2016, "Controlla" on June 7, and "Too Good" on July 26.
