Vipul Mudgal
Vipul Mudgal is a journalist, academic, and social activist who heads the rights-based NGO Common Cause in New Delhi. He focuses on democracy, governance, and political violence, particularly in South Asia, and has written extensively on the dangers of extrajudicial methods like torture and fake police encounters. Mudgal has received numerous global fellowships such as the Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellowship (2020) in Washington, D.C., Jefferson Fellowship (2003) at the East–West Center, Hawaii, the Nehru Centenary British Fellowship (1991) in the UK, and the Visiting Senior Fellowship at the CSDS (2013–2014), and has authored books on democratic processes, citizen rights, and state violence.
