History
The first post office in Virgil was created in 1863.[5] The community may be named after Virgil, New York.[6]
Geography
Virgil is at 37°58′50″N 96°0′40″W / 37.98056°N 96.01111°W (37.980603, -96.011090).[7] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.56 square miles (1.45 km2), all of it land.[3]
Climate
Virgil has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Virgil has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[8]
