West Azerbaijan province

West Azarbaijan or West Azerbaijan (Persian: آذربایجان غربی, Āzarbāijān-e Gharbī; Kurdish: Azerbaycanî Rojawa; Azerbaijani: Qərbi Azərbaycan) is one of the 30 provinces of Iran.

The province of West Azarbaijan covers an area of 39,487 km² (or 43,660 km² including Lake Urmia). The capital city of the province is Urmia. The majority of the population of the province consists of Azerbaijanis and Kurds with a smaller minority of Persians.
