The Yakovlev Yak-3 is a Soviet single-engine fighter aircraft. It was one of the main military aircraft used in USSR for World War II. The first flight was in 1941. It started being used in 1943. Some were used by French pilots of the Groupe Normandie-Niemen. After the war, some were used in Poland and Yugoslavia. More than 4,800 were built.
