Alto Paraná Department
The Alto Paraná department (Spanish: Departamento de Alto Paraná ) is a department of Paraguay. The capital is the city of Ciudad del Este.

Geography
The Alto Paraná department is in the central eastern part of the country, in the east of the Oriental region. It has an area of 14,895 km2 (5,751 sq mi), with a population of 785,747 for a Population density of 52.8.[2]
Limits
Rivers
The main river in the department is the Paraná river. The Acaray is an important tributary of the Paraná.
Climate
Ciudad del Este, the capital of the department, has a humid subtropical climate that is mild with no dry season, constantly moist (year-round rainfall). (Köppen climate classification : Cfa).[3]
The average amount of rainfall for the year in the city is 1,694.5 mm (66.7 in). The month with the most precipitation on average is January with 184.1 mm (7.2 in) of rainfall, followed by October with 176 mm (6.9 in).
The month with the least rainfall on average is July with an average of 90.6 mm (3.6 in) and the second is August with 115 mm (4.5 in).
Ciudad del Este is in a warm region; the average temperature for the year is 21.5 °C (71 °F). The warmest month, on average, is January with an average temperature of 26.1 °C (79.0 °F). The coolest month on average is June, with an average temperature of 16.3 °C (61.34 °F).
