Background
Battleground featured professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that played out on WWE's television programs, Raw and SmackDown. The wrestlers portrayed good guys, bad guys or tweeners (morally-ambiguous characters) as they followed a series of events, which leads to a wrestling match or a series of wrestling matches.[2][3]
