Crime in Bulgaria
Crime in Bulgaria has been frequent.
In 2006 the European Commission made goals for Bulgaria to improve its fight against corruption and organised crime.[1] In 2011 Bulgaria ranked 86th out of 182 countries on how corrupt they are thought to be.[2] They scored a 3.3 with 10 the highest possible.[2]
Human trafficking
Bulgaria is a source for women and children who are trafficked for prostitution. Men, women, and children are also used for forced labor.[3]
Crime in Varna
Varna is known to be the main place for Bulgarian organized crime. Some parts of the economy, including gambling, corporate security, tourism, real estate, and professional sports, are believed to be controlled by these groups.[4][5]
