Endemol was founded in 1994 with the combining of the television companies owned by Joop van den Ende and John de Mol. The name of the company comes from the combination of their surnames (Ende + Mol). The company is best known for making reality programs. One of its best known programs is the reality series Big Brother.[2] This series has over 40 different version which are shown in over 100 countries. The company also makes many different game shows such as Deal or No Deal, Fear Factor and Anime de Training EX. It also creates the popular series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Endemol was bought by Shine Group (a joint-venture between The Walt Disney Company and Apollo Global Management) and was headquartered in the Netherlands in 2015 ad Endemol Shine Group.[3][4]
