Gordon Bunshaft
Gordon Bunshaft (May 9, 1909 – August 6, 1990), was an American architect. He was known as a partner in the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), which he joined in 1937. He was born in Buffalo, New York.
Bunshaft was known for his designs for Lever House in New York, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., the National Commercial Bank in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, 140 Broadway (Marine Midland Grace Trust Co.) and Manufacturers Hanover Trust Branch Bank in New York.[1]
Bunshaft died on August 6, 1990 in New York City of cardiac arrest at the age of 81.[1]
