Harvey Weinstein
Harvey Weinstein (born March 19, 1952) is an American movie producer, movie studio executive and convicted rapist. He and his brother Bob Weinstein co-founded Miramax, which produced several popular independent movies including Pulp Fiction, Clerks, The Crying Game, and Sex, Lies, and Videotape.[1]

Career
Weinstein won an Academy Award for producing Shakespeare in Love, and won seven Tony Awards for producing a variety of winning plays and musicals, including The Producers, Billy Elliot the Musical, and August: Osage County.[2]
Weinstein and his brother Bob were co-chairmen of The Weinstein Company from 2005 to 2017.
Weinstein is Jewish[3] and a Democrat.
In Oscar acceptance speeches given since 1966, Weinstein has been thanked a total of 34 times by actors and actresses – equalling thanks given to God, and second only to Steven Spielberg with 43 mentions.[4]
Sexual harassment allegations
In October 2017, following many allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape, Weinstein was fired by his company's board of directors, and expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.[5] As a result, the #MeToo movement began to raise awareness of victims of sexual abuse and harassment.
Arrest and trial
On May 25, 2018, Weinstein was arrested in New York, charged with rape and other offenses, and released on bail.[6]
On February 24, 2020, he was found guilty of two of five felonies in New York, charges which carry a sentence of up to twenty five years.[7]
On March 22, 2020, Weinstein was diagnosed with COVID-19 while in prison in New York.[8][9]
