Meade, Kansas

Meade is a city in Meade County, Kansas, United States.[4] It is also the county seat of Meade County. In 2020, 1,505 people lived there.[3]

History

Meade was planned out and incorporated in 1885.[5][6] It was named after Gen. George Meade.[7]

Geography

The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 1.46 square miles (3.78 km2). All of it is land.[2]

Weather

The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Meade has a semi-arid climate, abbreviated "BSk" on climate maps.[8]

2020 census

The 2020 census says that there were 1,505 people, 611 households, and 382 families living in Meade. Of the households, 69.7% owned their home and 30.3% rented their home.

The median age was 42.4 years. Of the people, 86.2% were White, 1.2% were Black, 0.9% were Asian, 0.3% were Native American, 2.7% were from some other race, and 8.7% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.2% of the people.[3][9]

2010 census

The 2010 census says that there were 1,721 people, 670 households, and 454 families living in Meade.[10]
