Metropolis (comics)

Metropolis is a fictional city appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. It is where Clark Kent / Superman lives. The city is based on New York City, Chicago and Toronto. It became Superman's home in 1939. Within the DC Universe, Metropolis is one of the largest and richest cities on Earth. It has a population of nearly 11 million people.[1]

New York City is often cited as a real-life equivalent of Metropolis, and the landmarks in Metropolis are based on real places in Manhattan.
In the TV series Adventures of Superman, Los Angeles stood in place for Metropolis. The Los Angeles City Hall was depicted as the Daily Planet building in later seasons.
In the TV series Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Chicago stood in place for Metropolis.
