As of April 2018, he has been under investigation by federal prosecutors on multiple matters, including bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations due to payments made by him in the Stormy Daniels–Trump scandal.[3][4] The investigation led to him pleading guilty on August 21, 2018 to eight counts of campaign finance violations, tax fraud, and bank fraud.[5] On December 12, 2018, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison.[6]

Cohen, after his conviction, wrote a memoir titled Disloyal, where he accused Trump of telling him to commit the crimes he was convicted of, and talked about his other personal stories.
