Turner is President of the Sanders-affiliated group Our Revolution in 2017, taking over from former Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver.[3]

After Marcia Fudge was selected as Biden's nomination for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development,[4] Turner filed paperwork to run for in the special election for Ohio's 11th congressional district.[5] She lost the election to Shontel Brown. In January 2022, she said she would run against Brown in the Democratic primary for that same district's 2022 election cycle.[6] She lost to Brown again in the May primary.
