The population of Prince George was 76,708 in 2021.[3] The mayor of Prince George is Simon Yu. It is nicknamed the "BC's Northern Capital" because it is the largest city in northern British Columbia. However, it isn't actually in the northern half of British Columbia. It is named after King George V and Prince George, Duke of Kent.[4]
